FAQ
WHAT IS THE PROCESS?
The process to have your lights engraved is quite simple.
1. Email pictures of your lights along with pictures of the design you're wanting
2. We will discuss a layout and then price from there
3. Once price is confirmed, get ready to send your lights to us
4. Once we receive your lights, we will then sketch them out in your chosen design
5. Once the sketch is confirmed, we start the engraving process
6. Once the engraving process is complete they go off to have the lines sealed
7. Once they are fully complete we ship them back to you
8. Your lights are returned!
DO YOU ENGRAVE ANY LIGHTS?
Yes! as long as the condition of them allows us to do so (no chips, cracks, damaged areas). And they are plastic, not glass!
DO I HAVE TO SEND MY LIGHTS?
Yes! We can occasionally source lights for an extra cost but it is preferred for you to send us the items you're wanting engraved!
WHAT TOOLS DO YOU USE?
We use Dremels for the engraving process!
CAN YOU MAKE MY LIGHTS CLEAR?
We can't unfortunately do any work that requires replacing lenses, but as an alternative we do offer tinting services! Colours available - Red, Black, Smoked!
WHAT IS RE-SEALING THE LINES?
After the engraving process is complete, we send the items off to our painter who sprays a 2k quality clear coat over the lines to seal the lines nicely leaving them looking super new like and glossy, whilst protecting the engraving lines from any temperature changes which can cause cracking and damage!
WHAT IS THE TURN AROUND TIME?
The turn around time is generally 2-4 including the shipping process, but the work itself doesn't take any longer then 1-2 weeks
WILL THIS DAMAGE MY LIGHTS?
No! We take major precautions with our work and assess each individual item prior to engraving to ensure that we know the limits of the plastic depending on the age of it and to ensure that we stay within the depth we choose that is safe to engrave!
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU GO TO DEEP?
Proper inspections are always done prior to engraving to ensure that we NEVER go too deep
DOES THIS MAKE THE LIGHTS CRACK?
No! If left unsealed, there would be the possibility of cracking over time due to temperature changes and general wear and tear, but we leave no engraving line left unsealed to ensure this doesn't happen!
CAN THE ENGRAVING BE FILLED WITH RESIN?
It can be but for the best visual effect of the chosen design, it's best to leave the lines as is otherwise once lit up, your design will vanish whereas if the engraving is left bare the design will shine through extra bright!
IS THIS LEGAL?
Based off our own research, as long as the brake lights and reflectors are still visible, it is legal to have engraved lights. When tinting, the same rules apply. But we advise anyone with concerns to contact their local police station and enquire as this is going off Australian Laws and your country or states laws may be different!
HOW DO YOU GET THE LINES SO SMOOTH?
We have a step by step process following our engraving that requires lots of sanding, polishing and patience and once completed, the items are then professionally sealed by our painter!
